Below we hope to answer some of the commonly asked questions we receive from our valued customers.
How long has Coco Chocolate been established? Coco Chocolate has been established since June 2004. Since then we have gone from strength to strength; starting with a small store in Bruntsfield Edinburgh, producing chocolate in Rebecca's home kitchen marble slab to now a large offsite commercial kitchen producing Gold GTA award winning chocolate, a beautiful store in Edinburgh, Coco chocolate sold through boutique stores & Harvey Nichols around the UK and as far a field as Bahrain and Australia, an E-trading website featured in The Independent's "50 Best E-Boutiques", listed as The Independent's "50 Best Food Luxuries" and a Chocolate School training future chocolatiers!
Is Coco Chocolate and Coco of Bruntsfield the same? Yes. Coco Chocolate is our registered company name and Coco of Bruntsfield refers to our store in Bruntsfield Edinburgh
Is Coco Chocolate registered organic? Yes Coco Chocolate is registered organic. We are proud members of SOPA - The Scottish Organic Producers Association, adhering to their strict inspections and guidelines.
Is Coco Chocolate handmade? Yes all of our chocolate is made by hand by our team of trained chocolatiers. We even use the skill of hand tempering our chocolate on marble on a daily basis!
Why are not all Coco Chocolate products referred to as organic? Though Coco only uses organic chocolate in its kitchens, not all products are listed as organic because of the following reasons. The Coco drinking chocolate is made with organic chocolate but also is blended with what we believe to be the world's finest cocoa powder - Valrhona 100% cocoa. The taste is sublime but the cocoa powder is not organic. Though our wonderful Art Series chocolate are made with organic chocolate, we can not list these as organic as the cocoa butter we create the beautiful artworks with, are mixed with food colouring and no colouring can be listed as organic.
Is Coco Chocolate recommended as an E-Boutique as well as going to your store? Yes. Our website has accolades as The Independent's "50 Best UK E-Boutiques" - "Hotel Chocolat is a better known online retailer but Coco of Bruntsfield pipped it as my top choice for chocoholics because its handmade organic chocs are so individual. As well as a myriad of bars, boxes and 'Venus nipple' varieties, don't miss the decadent hot chocolate. It comes in all sorts of flavours including best of all, rose and black pepper. One for connoisseurs rather than sweet tooth grannies". Our website is secure for you to shop with confidence. Coco Chocolate uses Paypoint for all of its merchant services. Paypoint is the UK’s largest independently owned processor of secure, real-time, online credit and debit card transactions. When customers shop with a merchant who uses Paypoint they can be assured that their card details are securely encrypted during transport over the Internet so no one can access their card information. The card details are only transported to a Bank to authorise the purchase. You can check that you are using a secure service by looking for the padlock icon at the bottom right of your browser.

Mass produced chocolate squeezes out the expensive cocoa and cocoa butter in favour of cheaper sugar, vegetable fat & powdered milk. Real chocolate is rich in antioxidants. It is a help against heart disease and needn't make you fat - a bar of good quality chocolate, has less calories than mass produced chocolate!
